Lyra’s Theme – Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver
This is “Lyra’s Theme” from Nintendo’s game “Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver”.
The composer, Shota Kageyama, has also participated in the music composition of “Pokémon Black and White” and “Pokémon X and Y” and others.
When you start the game, you can choose the gender of the main character, and you can listen to this song when the character you didn’t choose appears as the main character’s childhood friend.
For “Ethan’s Theme”, which you can listen to when you choose a girl, see here.
I think the characteristic of this piece is the “Pachelbel’s Canon” progression in bars 2~5.
This progression is I-V-vi-iii-IV-I-IV-V (C-G-Am-Em-F-C-F-G in the key of C major) in Roman numerals, and it’s very smooth and comfortable.
There is a difference in that the last IV is now ii, but I think you will feel a sense of relief that you have heard before.
